Dexa-Bute 50ml

Dexa-Bute injection is a combination of dexamethasone and phenylbutazone, used in horses for its potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. This injectable solution is formulated to provide rapid relief from pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and other conditions in equines.

Dexa-Bute Dosage and Administration

Dosage:

– Adult Horses: The standard dosage is 0.1–0.2 ml per kg of body weight administered intravenously.
– Dosage can vary based on the severity of the condition and the veterinarian’s discretion.
– Administer under strict aseptic conditions to prevent infection.
– Repeat administration should be as per veterinary advice, usually not exceeding 48 hours apart to avoid potential side effects.

• – Infections:

Potential Side Effects

– Gastric ulcers or colic symptoms due to prolonged use.

Withdrawal Periods

– Meat: Not authorized for use in horses intended for human consumption. Ensure the treated horse is permanently removed from the human food chain.

– Competition: Follow the rules of equine competition authorities. Phenylbutazone and dexamethasone are commonly prohibited substances in many competitive sports.
